Randy Moss Wanted Brad Childress Fired

Randy Moss wanted Brad Childress out.

He went so far as to tell Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf just that.

According to a report by Chip Scoggins and Judd Zulgad in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Moss told Wilf “in no uncertain terms that Childress wasn't a good coach and should be fired” in the visitors’ locker room at Gillette Stadium in the moments following the team’s loss to the New England Patriots.

But Childress, according to the report, didn’t follow the protocol the team has in place when he made the decision on Monday to waive Moss without consulting other high-ranking members in the organization.

Wilf, who has declined interview requests this week, visited the team’s headquarters in Winter Park, Minn., this week to gauge the temperature of his 2-5 team. He huddled with Childress and also met with key veterans.

It’s believed that Childress is on thin ice at this point, a half-season removed from an appearance in the NFC Championship Game.

It will be interesting to see what direction the Vikings head during the second half of the season. They’ve been close in a handful of games that have gone the wrong direction, but that’s the ultimate losers’ lament. They need to find a way to start winning or there will be no further way to suppress the controversy.
